My goal when I paint a still life is to capture the story and structure of a scene.
These paintings are technical practices that test both my ability to tell stories with objects and to draw and shade from reality. Each still life consists of objects that both tell a story and represent myself, symbolizing who I am as both a storyteller and an individual.
Dino Axolotl Laundry Day is a still life of a stuffed dinosaur and a plastic axolotl washing socks together. Admittedly, they do not need to since the socks are clean as is.
Silly Little Still Life consists of objects that represent core aspects of myself, including my love for Nintendo, my spirituality, my gentle nature, and my identity as a more feminine individual.
